About this Event

As a young individual, making your way into the world of work is often challenging. Sadly, for young adults leaving foster or residential care, the chances of moving into sustainable employment are significantly lowered – 40% of 19-21-year-old care leavers are not in employment, education or training as compared to 12% of the national average. This is due to a multitude of reasons, not least moving into independence at a young age whilst facing financial hardship.

It is commonplace for individuals in foster care to have multiple foster placements, sometimes upwards of five times, and a disrupted education. For these same reasons, apprenticeships can offer a fantastic opportunity to young people who have left care: recognising individuals for their potential and drive, a quality that individuals have often had no choice but to develop in order to overcome adversity.

Join WhiteHat and Drive Forward on 14th February 2020, in advance of National Care Day, to learn more about how, as an employer, you can help care leavers achieve their full potential and secure a brighter future!
