Join us at the next Policy Lunchbox with Ali Orr who will be discussing degree apprenticeships - impacts, challenges and future opportunities.

Degree apprenticeships are a relatively new innovation in the talent development space, with the potential to close skills gaps and help to improve productivity. The advent of the Apprenticeship Levy has cast the government's apprenticeship reform programme once more into the spotlight. This talk will share key findings from research conducted with NCUB member businesses and universities shortly after the Levy was introduced, exploring the emerging impacts, challenges and future opportunities presented by degree apprenticeships.

Ali Orr is Talent and Employability Consultant at the National Centre for Universities and Business, a not-for-profit membership organisation that promotes, develops and supports university-business collaboration across the UK. He is a member of the Natural Sciences TEF subject panel and was an employability expert member of the inaugural TEF panel. Prior to joining NCUB, Ali spent ten years at the Science Council where he led on skills and professional standards, working closely with professional bodies, employers and further and higher education institutions. He also served as an advisory board member on Sir Bill Wakeham's review of STEM degree provision and graduate employability.

A free buffet lunch will be served from 12:30 - 13:00, followed by the talk and questions from 13:00 - 14:00. The event will take place at Charles Darwin House 2, Grays Inn Road, London, WC1X 8TZ.

This event is free and includes a networking lunch. However, space is limited and places must be reserved in advance. Due to high demand for Policy Lunchbox events, the number of spaces for individuals in the same organisations will be limited. If the event is full, please sign up to the waiting list to be notified when space becomes available.

If you are unable to attend the event, we will be live streaming Ali’s presentation. Follow it on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/biochemicalsociety
