Job Description

Job Title:         Learning & Development Specialist (Digital Business)

Reports to:    Director of Apprenticeships

Location:        LDN Apprenticeships HQ, Lansdowne, 278-280 South Lambeth Road, London, SW8 1U

Summary

The Learning and Development Specialist (LDS) will be responsible for the Induction, Support, Teaching & Learning and Assessment of allocated learners on an Apprenticeship. You will also be required to travel to various client offices to deliver assessments and training and support, as well as to observe learners and assess their competence to ensure successful completion of their Apprenticeship programme. You will use an e-portfolio system to assess work and give constructive feedback to the learners and manage their progress effectively. You will work closely with the Admin and Management Staff and the Admin and Management Staff to ensure timely completions and continuous improvement and development in the quality of provision. You will work with the Head of IQA to ensure all programmes are up to date and of high quality, and develop existing and new programmes to support the growth of the business.

 

Specialism Overview

 

The Digital Business LDS will be responsible for delivery of the digital pathway within Future LDN frameworks and the emerging Digital Apprenticeship Standards. The qualifications the framework consists of are the Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Diploma in IT and the Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Diploma for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals. The Standards are in development and will be delivered once approved.

We break down our Future LDN programmes into the following Digital Business Pathways:

·       Digital Project Admin

·       Digital Client Services

·       Digital Finance

The units or Standards offered within these qualifications will principally cover IT communication tools, Microsoft Office packages, IT System use and analysis. The LDS may also be required to deliver functional skills workshops and testing sessions.

 

Apprentice Induction

 

·       Deliver a comprehensive induction to all Apprentices and Managers to ensure they have a clear understanding of the Programme and assessment methods and are all ensuring there is opportunity and scope for the Apprentice to achieve safely and in a timely manner.

·       Ensure that all funding paperwork is accurately completed. To include, but not limited to, completion of IAG sessions with candidates, ILP/PDP production and updating, progress reviews (signed by candidates).

 

On Programme Delivery

 

  • Ensure the Health, Safety & Wellbeing of all learners on the programme.
  • Provide candidates with underpinning knowledge, skills and behaviours for all qualifications.
  • Work with the Apprentice and their Manager to prepare candidates for and conduct suitable assessment of all qualifications.
  • Provide support and IAG to learners to ensure successful achievement of their Apprenticeship programme.
  • Prepare schemes of work and lesson plans for all training sessions as required and keep lesson plans up to date a minimum of 4 weeks in advance of any training session taking place.
  • Develop new learning resources and programmes.
  • Recommend additional training for candidates that employers may wish to take advantage of, and ensure that this fits within the financial scope and ability of the company.
  • Liaise with the Director of Apprenticeships about additional training/support which may be required by candidates, and ensure that this training is delivered in workshop sessions to all candidates / individuals where possible.
  • Conduct reviews in person or via Skype with all candidates to which he/she is assigned, and to evidence these reviews on the form provided, and at all times to keep the Learning Plan of each individual candidate up to date.
  • Manage issues presented by learners who are on at-risk register and implement action plans as necessary in communication with the Director of Apprenticeships.
  • Prepare assessment plans for all learners and issue to learners prior to review visits.
  • Assess candidates in the workplace a minimum of every month and as soon as employment and assessment opportunities arise.
  • Provide candidates with timely feedback from assessment and give guidance on the holistic approach to evidence collection in assessment situations.
  • Manage own Diary and ensure Reviews are booked at least 4 weeks in advance and work with the Operations team in line with the Review Process.
  • Deliver appropriate Information, Advice and Guidance to learners to support progression on completion or withdrawal of the Apprenticeship.
  • Obtain feedback from learners on the programme and use this to feed in to improve course quality.
  • Ensure that portfolios are developed and maintained in line with awarding body and the Contractor’s requirements and where appropriate using the ePortfolio system.
  • Keep portfolios up to date and to make portfolios available for internal and external verification as and when requested.
  • Attend meetings as required with the internal and external verifiers and attend and contribute to all centre standardisation meetings.
  • Liaise with the Head of Internal Quality Assurance and arrange sampling of portfolios in accordance with the sampling plan.
  • Provide the Director of Apprenticeships and Head of IQA with details of any appeals in accordance with the centre’s appeals procedure.
  • Build strong relationships with Managers & Employers to ensure they are happy with the delivery of the programme.
  • Act as a representative of the LDN Apprenticeships' values and brand at all times, acting with EEWAP in everything you do.
